Mary Deal, a native of Walnut Grove, in California's Sacramento River Delta, is an oil painter and photographer now selling her work, which began as a hobby. Her first painting after a 21 year hiatus in oils sold to the first person who saw it. Her photography is in great demand and sells well at public events and through friends’ word-of-mouth. She is also an award-winning author/writer with four published novels: 'The Tropics: Child of a Storm – Caught in a Rip – Hurricane Secret,' an adventure/suspense trilogy, 'The Ka,' a paranormal Egyptian suspense, 'River Bones,' a thriller, and 'Down to the Needle,' another thriller. River Bones was a winner in the 2009 Eric Hoffer Book Awards. She is presently writing two sequels to this story. Mary is a Pushcart Prize nominee, a columnist with The Garden Island newspaper, and also Associate and Contributing Editor of Mississippi Crow magazine.
